Very good treatment of challenging subject.
It is exposure to other cultures that is, perhaps more than the films themselves, the reason I enjoy the Film society. Unusual film but very enjoyable.

Very good film on the misogyny, family 'honour' and 'silence' in 'traditional' culture. Well acted - the 'otherness' and non linear narrative gave it a surreal quality at times. I was not really expecting to like it - but I did.

Very depressing, but worth watching.
A hard film to watch but, anger, sadness and hope.
Distressing but really funny and well made film.
Not a 'must see again' film for me but the conversation between Shula and her father about Uncle Fred made me re-think how cheated victims feel when the perpetrator of the offences against them (either punitive or sexual) escape being brought to account by virtue of either banishment or death. In the case of Uncle Fred, a prolific sexual predator of the girls of the family, his death was perceived by those not involved in the predation, e.g. Shula's father, as obviating any requirement to expose Uncle Fred's past actions to achieve either 'closure' or 'justice' for the victims.
Interesting film which started strongly and vividly but then lingered and dragged a bit. Many issues explored.
Interesting from an anthropological aspect but rather unfocused at times, could have been edited more tightly.

An insight into a very alien culture that I found very hard to understand in terms of the reaction to events and memories. The reaction to 'Uncle Fred' - a seemingly universal problem - did not reflect present day UK values, so it was unsettling. No doubt that was how it was meant to be, but I did not enjoy it.
The main character was good but l didn't like the film.
I found the film interestingly strange and a very odd choice for the CFS.
Very dull, no structure and all a bit pointless. It was an interesting theme, but it could have been so much better. Even though it was a short film, it felt long!
Hmm. I’m not sure I saw the point. It didn’t say anything new, for me. Acting was okay. Made me feel quite anxious and sad. But I didn’t like it.
The film was slow and boring. I did not understand some of the scenes.
I felt no emotional connection despite the subject matter - usually the patriarchy hits so many buttons but this film wasn't at all relatable - a shame.
Dull and uninteresting.
Truly awful without any redeeming features.
Weird film - Zambian culture seemed most peculiar and not very interesting. First time almost ever that I thought I would have happily missed this film.
