Great to see a Brazilian film the main actress was astonishingly good.

An interesting film that covered a number of significant contemporary issues such as abortion and religious attitudes. Excellent acting, good pace and a reasonably positive ending.
Loved the music and the fast pace of this film. I was surprised at the stringency of the Abortion laws and the pressure women have to endure to get one !!!
It started slowly but I gradually became really involved in it and found it to be powerful and moving. The characters were very real.
Really interesting portrayal of a familiar topic (unwanted teen pregnancy) - in an unusual, progressive and brilliantly supportive community, against a scarily conservative backdrop. And very refreshing how peripheral the roles for (traditional) male characters were, putting females (cis and trans) and non-binary characters centre stage. Cool use of music too.
I thought the film allowed the audience an understanding of Brazil's changing cultural references. I also thought it was interesting storytelling to contrive that the very people that were meant to prioritise life should be the ones to be responsible for the miscarriage. I was touched by the relationship between Sophia & her father.
Mixed Feelings?
Despite the contrived ending, I very much enjoyed this film. The story was engaging and thoughtful without being mawkish, it was beautifully filmed, and the acting was excellent.
I quite enjoyed this. It was interesting and lively but quite uneven in places. I thought the over the top antics of the volleyball team detracted from the serious main point of the film but it gave an interesting insight on Brazilian culture and mores.
Too many issues trying to squeeze in, but an interesting, raunchy story with lots to show about contemporary Brazil. Lead actress is excellent and the portrayal of the relationship with her father was very good.
While not totally believable, it was interesting and of note.
The lesbian relationship wasn’t credible. The relationship between father and daughter felt very real.
A bit over the top at times, but the poignant story was well told.
Not a technical masterpiece but the main parts, Sofia, her father and Sol were sympathetically acted.

It was a badly made film. The plot was jumbled. Editing was jerky with frequent black screens and there was too much close-up photography. The film dragged and seemed to be longer than it actually was.
Interesting subject matter and quite well done. But I never really got engaged in it. I thought the hype about the female lead was overblown.
Some lively characters and some unpleasant music and, for me, the film was a bit boring and unoriginal.
Poor and predictable story line, acting was just OK. Nothing memorable about this film. Sorry I think this one is the only dud of the whole year.
I felt I was watching a film from a university media course with the cliched characters (everyone our age is super cool, all adults except for family and the team coach are bad). Shame, as it dealt with a very important subject.
Disjointed story line, lacked a proper critique of Brazil’s abortion laws or the rejoicing as a coming of age story.
Unedifying and unentertaining, preachy in tone and ramshackle in construction. Did not enjoy it.
