Absolutely fantastic. Very funny but with poignancy and sadness as well. I laughed and cried. Best film I have seen in ages.
CFS has screened some cracking films over the years. This was my favourite! What a brilliant script, cast, and scenery. Full gamut of emotions. Wow!
An extremely funny film in which some sensitive subjects such as bereavement and loneliness still manage to be explored. The ending was perfectly pitched and all the actors' performances were excellent.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The jokes kept coming and some were so bad they were even funnier. I think everyone can relate to a lost love for whatever reason, and yearn to go back although this is impossible. The characters were believable and so very different from each other. They were all at a different place in their lives, which made the interaction between them quite taut and fragile at times, which was displayed by very fine acting.
A salve for difficult times. I came away feeling uplifted and moved. So that’s got to be Excellent. It’s an unashamed parable touching on human frailty, strength and the power of a good story and very good acting. Thanks!
I loved this! It made me laugh out loud multiple times. The puns, quips and plays on words were excellent. Great script and delivery.
A lovely and uplifting and funny film - moving without being patronising. In over twenty years of membership I would place this in the top three!
Films are often described as "life-affirming" - this one genuinely lived up to that description! I left the screening feeling all warm and fuzzy in a way that has seemed all too rare in the film world of late. Loved it.
This was such an enjoyable film, which got the balance just right. Silly without being stupid; heartwarming without being slushy. Loved the laugh out loud moments and great script!

Cliches galore! Middle of the road, an easy watch.
Good to watch a comedy film which was actually funny and good entertainment. Quite enjoyable and a nice ending.
A remarkably eccentric and charming film with an interesting cast of characters - even the Tim Key character was tolerable after a while. The plot twisted and turned nicely although I thought the ending was a little trite.
The occasional humour was not enough to sustain a silly story.
It was good to see a feel good film on the programme. However, I wasn't convinced by the story and found the comedy element laboured. A tad too sentimental for me.

I was slightly surprised to see CFS screening a film that had quite a significant cinema outing, and is easily available on streaming platforms.
This is the lowest score I've given so far for a film, although judging by the audience reaction at the showing, it's one of the funniest films ever made!
Difficult to connect to a film whose main character makes David Brent seem sensitive and empathetic. The other thing with films that revolve around imaginary but successful music is that the quality of that music has to be commensurate with that alleged success. How this banal, earnest, clunky 'singer/songwriter' stuff could have ever led to a number of albums (and a subsequent solo career!) is completely implausible to me. 'Raspberry Fair'? Really? Or perhaps the whole thing was elaborately ironic? Probably not, having listened to the main protagonists on a recent Graham Norton Show.
